Metropolitan Opera Rocky Mountain Auditions Region

In 2021 Apryl became a board member of the Rocky Mountain region for the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, which aids in developing young, gifted opera singers at the beginning of their careers.

Arizona Opera Spark Commissioning Club

Apryl has been a board member of the Spark Commissioning Club since 2020. This esteemed group of individuals fosters new operas that facilitate Arizona Opera’s effort in presenting contemporary works.

GRAMMY Voting Member

The Recording Academy Screening Committee inducted Apryl as a Voting GRAMMY Member in 2007 for her multifaceted accomplishments in musical works and theatre. Today there are approximately 12,000 voting members worldwide.

Arizona’s Got Talent

Apryl judged Arizona’s Got Talent on September 7, 2019, which showcased an extraordinary group of local talent from Arizona. The top three acts won cash prizes and a ‘Front of the Line Pass’ to audition for America’s Got Talent in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Phoenix Symphony Commissioning Club

The Phoenix Symphony Commissioning Club was a group of notable individuals that commissioned works from composers all over the world. Apryl was a member from 2009 to 2014 under the tutelage of esteemed Music Director-Conductor Michael Christie.

Phoenix Symphony

As a featured soloist, Apryl was thrilled to perform with The Phoenix Symphony on New Year’s Eve 2010. When asked about the experience Apryl replied, “It felt like I was floating on a cloud.”

NAMMY Award Winner

Apryl Allen took home Best Pop Recording for Na Unu Nahai (ShapeShifter) at the 2009 NAMMYs (Native American Music Awards). Apryl was nominated for four NAMMYs: Best Pop Recording, Debut Artist, Record of the Year, and Song/Single of the year (Black Moon). Watch as Apryl accepts her NAMMY here.

Silver Arrow Award

For her contribution to Native American Music, Apryl is a proud recipient of the 2009 Silver Arrow Award for her album Na Unu Nahai (ShapeShifter).

Voted #1 Jazz Song on OurStage.com

In May of 2009 Velvet Voice (Morningstar) won the coveted #1 Jazz Song on OurStage.com. Apryl co-wrote Velvet Voice with Julio Fernandez (Guitarist). The complexities of Jazz fused with Bossa Nova and Latin gives it the seductiveness only a Comanche and Cuban can achieve together. Produced and guest performance by Richie Cannata (Saxophonist)

Comanche Nation: Apryl Allen Day

Apryl held the Record Release Party for her album Na Unu Nahai (ShapeShifter) at the Comanche Nation Complex in 2008. On this same day the Comanche Nation named November 7th ‘Apryl Allen Day’ based on her international success, Comanche leadership, and involvement to keep Comanche traditions, stories, and language alive.

Young Arts Arizona

As of 2009, Apryl has been a board member of Young Arts Arizona which promotes hope, healing, and recovery through self-concept for children who are hospitalized with illness, physical, emotional, or learning disabilities. Its primary focus: to empower the children to express themselves through art.

Judge – Miss Arizona-USA

Following her reign as Miss Arizona-USA 1993, Apryl found herself not competing on-stage but in a front row seat when she was asked to judge the Miss Arizona-USA 1996 pageant.

Miss USA Pageant

Celebrating women’s inner beauty, intellect, and leadership, Apryl represented the State of Arizona at the Miss USA pageant on February 19, 1993. Apryl won 1st Runner-Up for Best Costume: Her Traditional Jingle Dress with Eagle Feather Fan.

Miss Arizona-USA

On May 23, 1992, Apryl was crowned the 41st Miss Arizona-USA for 1993. Throughout her reign, she shared deeply held beliefs with people of all ages and from all walks of life that anything is possible if you believe.
